MIRACLES
At some point, every homeowner encounters a broken square of tile in the
kitchen counter, backsplash or oor that makes the entire room appear run
down. You wouldn’t hire a landscaper to cut one small square of lawn, so why
hire a contractor to repair one unsightly broken tile? The Dremel Multi-Max’s
versatile nature allows you to complete all steps required in this project with just
one tool – and no contractor’s bill – to keep your tiles in tip-top shape.
• STEP ONE: First, cut away grout surrounding the broken tile with the
MM500 or MM501 Grout Removal Blade, using a higher speed setting for
harder grout material. Then, pry up the broken tile using a chisel if necessary.
• STEP TWO: Next, attach the 24-Grit MM920 Carbide Rasp to the tool and
use it to grind away thin-set mortar left behind in the opening. This will allow
the new tile to sit ush with surrounding tiles. Brush away debris and clean
the area thoroughly before setting the new tile.
